How to Create an Account

Makler users need to create an account before they can post ads or send messages. Getting started is quick, easy, and free.

To register:
 
Click Login/Register at the top of the Gumtree homepage
Click the Register tab
Enter your name, email, and the password you would like to use to sign into Gumtree
Click Register at the bottom of the form.
You&rsquo;ll receive a welcome email to the address you entered in the form. To finalize your account, open the email and click Activate Your Account.
You should now be able to login and begin your Gumtree journey. For help logging in, read our How to Login & Logout article.
 

No Welcome Email?
If you haven&rsquo;t received your welcome email, check your email&rsquo;s junk and/or spam folders. Then, make sure to add noreply@makler.uk to your email’s safe list.

How Long Are Ads Active?

The lifespan of an ad depends on its category:


	Ads in Property and Services will be live for 60 days.
	Ads in Community, Pets, Motors, Jobs and For Sale will be live for 30 days.


Once the ad’s run-time is up, we’ll send you an email notice that your ad is about to expire. You can apply a Bump Up at any time to reset its clock. If no Bump Up is applied, the ad will be removed from the queues and placed into your Inactive Ads list.

Inactive Ads

After you delete an ad or it expires, we save a copy of it in your Inactive Ads section. Inactive ads are not visible to anyone but you. We keep them for you so you can use them as a reference for future ads. We automatically delete images from inactives ads after 6 months. Inactive ads can&rsquo;t be deleted or removed from your list.

How to Repost Ads

After your ad expires, you can still repost it by applying a Bump Up. A Bump Up will put the ad back into the queues as if you’d created a whole new ad – without the hassle. Bumped Up ads will run for the same amount of time as they originally ran (30 or 60 days).

If you don’t want to apply a Bump Up you can still post your ad again, but it will have to be done by manually creating a new version.

Makler is a community and we work hand-in-hand with users to help maintain the safety of the platform. 

Reporting a message
If you think you have received a suspicious or inappropriate message, you can report it directly to us by using the report reply function which is available on the web version of Makler (and soon on iOS & Android app). You will find the report reply button at the bottom of each message, under more options. You can report messages for the following reasons:

Fraud
Abuse or Harassment
Adult or inappropriate
Phishing attempt
Spam

Be sure to include as much information as possible, to help our team with their investigations. All reports remain anonymous.

Please be aware that whilst our team will review every report that is made, we will not communicate the result of our investigations. If you wish to speak with one of our team about a message you have received, please visit our contact us page.

It is also difficult for our team to mediate on issues such as buyer seller disputes, reports of no shows and reports stating no reply. However, we value these reports as they help us to create a better Makler for our users in future.
